It’s been a while since our last TechTalk update – but plenty has been happening.

Frustratingly, the first part of this year was dominated by a big project to upgrade the tech stack our Content Management System (CMS) runs on – it took twice as long and cost twice as much as it should have, but we got there in the end.

It was shortly after the CMS project that we decided to bring all our software engineering work in-house – a good move as it turns out as on Monday our Wellington-based outsourced developers announced they are closing up shop on 8 November ’24.

Our new Principal Engineer, the awesome Fen O’Conner, is well on his way to hiring our new high-performing engineering team. Before long we’ll be able to really increase the rate with which we can deliver great new tech features to your ComplyWith tools.

In the meantime, we have recently released the new Email Sender Module and the view of compliance content ‘By Activities’ in your Obligations Register – learn more about these features below.

By Unplugged on 8 November, we hope to have the first release of the new Linking feature – which when fully deployed will enable you to create and display links between Legal Compliance obligations and Controls, internal policies and resources, and your organisation’s notes.

Take a look at your enhanced Email Sender Module

Features of the enhanced Email Sender Module include:

  • It’s now much easier to create your own email templates.
  • The ability to have a ‘from’ name (with a different 'from' email address) and to set a different ‘reply to’ email address.
  • New templated emails for survey ‘heads-up’ emails and reallocating obligations in a survey.
  • Improved navigation and user interface features.

To help you get better acquainted with the new features in your enhanced Email Sender Module we have uploaded new Help Guidance. We’ll also be hosting a quick tutorial session on the morning of our Unplugged customer conference.

Accessing legal obligations via ‘activities’ in the Obligations Register

We are all about making the law as accessible as possible for people. This quest has led us to introduce the ability to access legal obligations via ‘activities’ in the Obligations Register.

This will be a great help for people wanting clarity about their legal obligations who know what the subject matter is that they need help with but don’t know what legislation the obligations are under.

Most of the great features that are available in the By Category view also apply in the By Activities view, these include:

  • The ‘clarity of change’ feature that makes is super easy to see which laws have changed, when they changed, what obligations changed and how those obligations changed.
  • The ability to easily download selected content into a document when needed.
  • The ability to see which obligations have been allocated to you for reporting purposes.
