Grant Pritchard's Unplugged 2020 presentation about why workplace mental health matters could not have been shared at a more crucial time.

Conversations around mental health in the workplace are already nowhere near common enough. So, when level 3 meant Grant Pritchard, workplace mental health champion, could not make it down to Wellington to present at Unplugged 2020, we refused to let that be the end of the conversation.

Thank goodness for Zoom. After a few hiccups, we had the session up and running with Grant in the corner of the screen and his presentation in full force, front and centre.

1 in every 2 New Zealanders will suffer from mental illness at some point in their life. New Zealand also has one of the highest suicide rates in the developed world. This needs to change.

Grant shared with us why mental health is such a strong passion of his, and facilitated discussion around attendee’s mental health journeys, resilience and wellbeing.

Some key takeaways from the session were:

  1. You do not have to always be okay.
  2. Know what anchors you, who you know you can turn to, and what you’re grateful for.
  3. Real men do two things. They eat quiche and they cry.

We are so grateful to Grant for joining us. While it ended up being virtually, the session still provided so much value to us at ComplyWith and all the ComplyWith Unplugged 2020 attendees.
